Chocolat (group)
Chocolat (Hangul: 쇼콜라), commonly stylized as ChoColat, is a South Korean girl group created by Paramount Music in 2011. Their group name means "Chocolate" in French. Their name was chosen because the different characters of the members would remind people of different types of chocolate, however due to there already being a group with the name Chocolate, to set themselves apart from them, their group name was chosen by its French translation. [1] The group consists of five members, three are mixed race Korean, (Juliane, Tia, Melanie), and the other two are Korean (Min Soa, Jae Yoon).
2011: Debut & I Like It
Announced as the first mixed race girl group in South Korea, the group debuted with their 1st digital single "Syndrome (신드롬)" on August 17th 2011 and on live music programs M! Countdown on August 18, 2011.
It was revealed the group would be holding their first comeback with a mini-album in December. Promotions for "I Like It" began on the 3rd of December, 2011 at the K-pop Con. The mini-album was planned to be released on December 15th. On December 6th, as a response to fans' questions, Paramount Music revealed that the final date for the mini-album release was delayed to December 15th, 2011.[2] Due to severe illness, Jaeyoon (main vocalist), was unable to attend recording sessions for the title track and therefore had to miss the "I Like It" promotional period altogether, going into a hiatus for the time being.
